I can do ANYTHING.....

This June will mark 14 years since my diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis and in this time; I have learned so much but the biggest is the affirmation that I CAN DO ANYTHING!!! I just do it differently….

I recently decided that I would open my heart and mind to courtship. I am online dating; which is interesting and exhausting, but part of the journey involves me disclosing MS at some point. So far, while I have been told that it is not a “deal breaker”; I totally know better because of the lack of questions. Lol

One gentleman (aged 55), I know right! Stated that his concern was whether or not I would be able to “keep up” with him. Keep up with what?????

I wasn’t kayaking prior to MS and I don’t kayak now; I wasn’t zip lining or jumping out of planes prior to MS and never planned to. In fact my favorite outdoor activity has ALWAYS been going indoors. Lol

The truth is that with the exception of driving and being able to walk without assistance; I still do everything I was doing prior to MS; just differently. In fact, I have achieved more in my life since MS than what I planned on doing prior to and even after the diagnosis.

The best interaction I have had was a gentleman who in response to my disclosure; shared his own life challenge basically declaring, who doesn’t have something? Everyone has something they must deal with and if not now; it is on the way as we all get older and our youthful energy diminishes.

How refreshing was his perspective and we shall see how things develop, but I share this to remind you that no matter what challenge you are faced with remember that with Christ; you can do ALL things. You just may have to do it differently.
