We are encouraged to do everything in our power to be peaceful with all people; even those in and out of fellowship with God. It is sad to say that too often, Christian brothers and sisters don’t live at peace with even one another; let alone the world!

We argue about this and that and allow our feelings and agendas to get in the way of anything that can even be understood as peace; which is exactly what Satan wants. Arguments, fighting, and divisiveness are the attitudes and lifestyles that he would love to see at work in the world; especially among Disciples of Christ, who ought to know better.

During these last days we need to watch out for those who work diligently to cause division; while simultaneously quoting scripture. During this past time of fasting; we have been shown in Proverbs 6:16 (NKJV)“These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.”

You cannot say that you love God, who you have never seen and hate the people you see every day without consequence. You cannot say that you love God yet sow seeds of discord, causing division and strife every chance that you get; carrying picket signs of hate.

The Apostle Paul states in Galatians 5:14-15 (NKJV) “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself. But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!”

Will I agree with you on everything under the sun? Do you agree with me on everything on this planet? Of course not, but if we wish to live at peace with one another as God has asked; then we simply have to make the decision to not let anything get in our way of truly loving one another and allowing peace to reign in our lives.

John 13:34-35 (NKJV). “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

The world will know us by our love; not what we say, but what we display.
