Mirror, Mirror On The Wall

There is a song that I love recorded by the late Milton Brunson and the Thompson Community Singers. The song starts with this verse…..
“If I looked at myself through God's eyes, would I see someone who is faithful and true? If I looked at myself through God's eyes, would I see someone who is willing to go through?”
So, yes, 14 years of living with Multiple Sclerosis and I had an encounter where I wasn’t seen; only the mobility scooter I move about in. It’s not the first time, but it’s been a very long time since I was affected by it.
Instead of my joy, my heart, my smile, my ensemble (lol)…..my physical disability managed to take precedence but for a moment; long enough to impact me; yet but for a moment.
I say for a moment because I quickly remembered whose image and likeness I was created in. I remembered that despite any physical imperfection that I am “fearfully and wonderfully made” Psalm 139:14. In fact, my body is an endlessly fascinating repository of passion and purpose; created to do a great work to advance the Kingdom of God.
Have you ever felt like you were not seen purely just for who you are? If so, let me encourage you and declare that:
1) You don’t look like what you’re going through or have been through
2) You were created by the Master Creator and ALL that He has made is good
3) You are SO LOVED, that God gave and sacrificed, His only Son for the benefit of your soul!
4) Every day you are blessed to wake up is further demonstration of this love that comes with BRAND NEW MERCY!!!!!
I remind you at this very hour that you are validated by God, not man. Sure, a compliment from mankind can make your day and even put a smile on your face but be mindful that it is temporary. The mouth that showered a compliment can also spew lies and hate. It is important to continually seek to look like and exemplify Christ in all that we say and do.
Ask yourself daily, “Mirror, mirror on the wall, do you see Christ in me at all?”
As I opened with the verse of the song, “Through God’s Eyes”. I will close with the bridge and vamp:
I may not be all I should be, But I know You love me and You'll help me grow. You made my life so complete, and I'll never, never be the same.
I want to walk hand in hand with You, so that You can show me what I must do; If I looked through God's eyes, what would I see?
